Delegates Welcome Bishop Huie Back

It had only been a few hours since delegates voted to approve the recommendation of the Episcopacy Committee for placement of bishops throughout the Jurisdiction. Included in this vote was the return of Bishop Janice Riggle Huie to the Texas Annual Conference for her second quadrennium. The focus of the 7:00 am breakfast was the opportunity for delegates of the TAC to welcome back our Bishop, to hear from her firsthand thoughts on how to proceed in the ministry of the church and to briefly assess the work of the Texas Conference Delegation.

“I don’t want to get in the way of God’s dream,” stated Rev. Elijah Stansell, in his opening words as host. He encouraged delegates to not wait for 2011 to move forward as an influencing delegation of the South Central Jurisdiction. “We are going to have to talk about the things that make us uncomfortable,” Stansell challenged, “we can’t wait until we get into a setting like this one to do this work.” ...more>>
